Situated in Downtown Toronto, Yonge Dundas Square or simply Dundas Square is a public square built in 1997 as part of a revitalisation project of the intersection of Yonge Street and Dundas Street East.

Completing in 2002, the square has been the stage for many public events, performances and art displays and has firmly planted itself as a landmark of Toronto. The intersection at which the square sits is one of the busiest in Canada, with over 100,000 people crossing through here every day.

The square is also the backdrop to many other major landmarks in Toronto including the Toronto Eaton Centre, Ed Mirvish Theatre, and the Citytv building. The square is illuminated by large billboards and corporate logos, baring resemblance to Times Square in New York City and Piccadilly Circus in London.

Situated within the Nathan Phillips Square, Toronto City Hall is on the former location of the Old Chinatown but this was moved during the renovation of the area in the 1950s.

The seat of municipal government and corporate head office for Canada’s largest city, Toronto City Hall is a grand building consisted of two towers; the East Tower has 27 floors and the West Tower has 20. In between the two towers, is the Council Chamber where the Toronto City Council holds its meetings every month.

Step back in time as you explore the former estate of Sir Henry Mill Pellatt, a prominent Toronto financier, industrialist and military man.

An unabashed romantic, Sir Henry engaged with the noted architect E.J. Lennox to help him realise a life-long dream – the creation of a ‘medieval’ castle on the brow of a hill overlooking Toronto.

Begun in 1911, it took 300 men nearly 3 years to complete and cost $3,500,000 at that time. Sir Henry enjoyed Casa Loma for less than 10 years before financial misfortune forced him to abandon his castle home.

With four floors, grounds and gardens to discover, take some time to enjoy this intriguing legacy of an extraordinary Canadian.

Situated in Downtown Toronto, the St. George Campus of the University of Toronto is located around Queen’s Park and the campus effortlessly combines historical architecture and green spaces in this wonderful community.

Founded in 1827 as King’s College, the university now covers an area of 176 acres surrounding Queens Park and the Ontario Legislative Building. Many of the buildings surrounding the campus are of Romanesque and Gothic Revival architecture, constructed between 1857 and 1929.

Featuring a mix of Richardsonian Romanesque and Norman architecture, the University College building dates back to the mid 19th century and was designated as a National Historic Site of Canada in 1968.

The campus also features a 143-foot tower which is inscribed with the names of those who lost their lives during the two World Wars.

Originally named SkyDome, it was renamed to Rogers Centre following the sale of the stadium to a company which also owned the Toronto Blue Jays. The structure is a multi-purpose stadium in Downtown Toronto near the famous CN Tower.

Opened in 1989, Rogers Centre is home to the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball. Whilst the stadium is predominantly for sports activities, it also hosts a number of conventions, trade fairs, concerts, carnivals and monster truck shows.

Not only an iconic symbol of Toronto, but the 553-metre tall structure known as the CN Tower is also a world-renowned symbol of Canada. Completed in 1976, the CN Tower, ‘CN’ referring the Canada National the railway company that built the tower, is a landmark of celebrated landmark and an architectural triumph of North America.

The CN Tower had a glorious 32-year reign as the world’s tallest free-standing structure until 2007 and was also the world’s tallest tower until 2009 when the Burj Khalifa and Canton Tower respectively, knocked it off its leader’s perch.

Now the 9th tallest free-standing structure in the world, the CN tower continues to be a huge attraction in North America attracting over two million international visitors each year. The CN Tower is a must-see attraction in Toronto and many people come for its spectacular, award-winning 360 restaurant and its glass-fronted elevators which rocket you up to the look-out level located at 346 metres above the ground offering breathtaking views.

The CN Tower is also home to the world’s highest ‘hands-free’ external walk which invites you to walk around the edge of the building secured by safety harnesses at 356 metres above ground. On the shores of Lake Ontario, the Harbourfront is a tranquil place full of waterfront parks, pathways, galleries, theatres and events at the vibrant Harbourfront Centre. From here, it’s popular to hop on a ferry across to the many islands and beaches offshore.

Situated in downtown Toronto, the area is also home to a number of hip restaurants, cafes and boutiques. Toronto has long been an important city for shipping and industrial purposes and hence the Harbourfront has played a major role.

In the early 1970s, it was announced by the Canadian Prime Minister at the time that the Harbourfront would undergo a project to revolutionise it from an industrial portland to a cultural and residential district full of art galleries and performance spaces.

The popular Harbourfront Centre was formed in 1991 as a non-profit organisation to create a waterfront park in Toronto. The centre organises public events and activities.

After a typical Canadian Breakfast, you’ll head to the north shore of Lake Ontario, one of the five Great Lakes to take some pictures and admire the scenery. You’ll then head to the Thousand Islands Region, home to the first national park in the Canadian Rockies. After cruising around the park and exploring these ancient mountains which have become islands, you’ll continue your journey towards Montreal and check-in to Hotel Lord Berri for the night.

The coach departs the hotel for Montreal at 8am. Departing early, you’ll enjoy a pleasant drive east. Following the north shore of Lake Ontario, you’ll pass endless miles of rolling farmland. The first destination is the beautiful Thousand Islands Resort region, where you’ll embark upon a relaxing cruise. After taking in the sights and sounds of this river playground, you’ll re-board the tour coach for the drive to Montreal.

Falling into one of the five Great Lakes of North America, Lake Ontario measured a surface area of 7,340 square miles. On three sides it is surrounded by the Canadian province of Ontario, and also creates a border with New York state in America, whose waters meet in the middle of the lake.

The lake’s shores lap up against many of Ontario’s biggest citie’s including Toronto, and Hamilton. Lake Ontario is fed by the Niagara River from Lake Erie and is the only one of the Great Lakes not to border Michigan state.

Here you can stop to admire the grand scale of the lake and take photos.

Formerly known as the St. Lawrence Islands National Park, Thousand Islands National Park is located on the Saint Lawrence River in the Thousand Islands Region. Interestingly, the islands here are ancient mountains that have been worn down over thousands of years.

The Thousand Islands National Park was the first national park established in the Canadian Rockies and the rugged shorelines create an enchanting landscape. To explore the park, it’s best to be on a boat and cruise around discovering each different island.

Today, you’ll discover Montreal in all its might including Old Montreal, McGill University, and Mount Royal, the mountain which gives the city its name. On the edge of the St Lawrence River, Old Montréal is the city’s birthplace, composed of picturesque squares, grand old-world architecture and a dense concentration of camera-toting tourists. The narrow Rue StPaul, teems with art galleries, shops and eateries, while the Old Port is lined with green parkland and cafes along Rue de la Commune.

Built as the athletes’ residence for the 1976 Summer Olympics, the Olympic Village in Montreal is an interested two-tower structure. The towers form an almost triangle shape coming to a peak in the middle.

Designed by architects Roger D’Astous and Luc Durand, the Olympic Village was a huge drama as the architects went vastly over budget taking it from the original budget of $30 million to $90 million. Because of the drastic increase in costs, the Olympic Installations Board sizes the complex.

Situated in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie, the building imitates a structure in the South of France and was housed almost all of the athletes during the Olympics.

Filled with cobblestone streets, rich architecture and heaps of history, Old Montreal is a vibrant neighbourhood which dates back to the 17th century. Originally founded by the French settlers, Old Montreal was first known as Fort Ville-Marie.

Many of the buildings and structures found within this district date back to the 17th century and the era of New France. The area also houses the Old Port of Montreal and much of the neighbourhood was declared a historic district by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs of Quebec in 1964.

Old Montreal is the height of European sophistication and is full of great sights and landmarks not to be missed. Built in the Gothic Revival style, the Basilique Notre Dame is one of the greatest sights in Old Montreal as well as the charming Saint-Paul Street.

Boasting a panoramic view of the city of Montreal, Mount Royal is a small mountain located west of downtown Montreal. Mount Royal bares resemblance to the Eiffel Tower in Paris in that it is one of the key landmarks of the city of Montreal.

The hill consists of three peaks, the highest being the Colline de la Croix at 233 metres. As you may have guessed from the similar phonetic sound, the city of Montreal takes its name from this mountain. Year-round, whether in snow or sun, travellers and locals make their way to the summit to enjoy the view of the city.

Inaugurated in 1876, the park was designed by the same man who designed New York’s Central Park and is a great place to enjoy outdoor activities, watch the birds and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The park features a manmade lake, Beaver Lake, which is the centre point for many of the activities on Mount Royal.

This morning, you prepare to depart from Montreal’s cosmopolitan atmosphere and partially follow the route of Canada’s first carriageway, the Chemin du Roy deep into French Canada. Winding your way through typical FrenchCanadian villages and towns, you’ll experience true immersion in the French culture.

The Mont-Orford National Park hike is without a doubt the best way to discover this area. It is the perfect opportunity to access many of the most spectacular views in the Eastern Townships.

The park is home to, among many others, white-tailed deer and great blue herons, which can be observed in their natural habitat. It also has a great diversity of amphibian and reptile species.

Near the two beaches within the park, travellers can relax and take in the surroundings or take part in many of the activities available. In the autumn months, sugar maple trees offer a colourful spectacle to hikers and in the winter, the park becomes a must-do for cross-country skiers and snowshoe enthusiasts.

The Citadelle of Quebec is a National Historic Site of Canada as recognised in 1980, located in the historic district of Old Quebec. Currently, it is an active military base and also the second official residence of the Canadian monarch and the Governor General of Canada.

In 1985, the Citadelle, which is the oldest military building in Canada, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Originally a British fortress, it sits on the highest point in Quebec, known as Cape Diamond, an advantageous location for a military base.

Construction of the Citadelle of Quebec began in 1820 and was finished in 1850. It was built following the re-examination of the British defensive strategy after the closely escaping the American invasion of Canada in 1812.

In 1912, a monastery overlooking Lake Memphremagog was founded by Benedictine monks from France. The monastery is colourful in design made up on natural geometric shapes and multi-coloured granite and bricks.

The monastery is home to thirty Benedictine monks who live in accordance with the monastic rule written by St. Benedict who lived from 480-547. The prayers and chants can be heard in Gregorian and Latin chant and the mosts residing here have commited their lives to God in prayer, work and fraternal life.

The monastery grounds offer a great opportunity to pick-yourown apples and to also take hikes in the surrounding areas. The shop also sells a variety of products made on site such as cheese, ciders, applesauce, jelly and apple butter.

Bringing science, art, culture and heritage together, the Mineralogical Museum of Thetford Mines and Mining is a place where you can discover the history and the geology of the Appalachians mountains. Here, you can discover the first mines of Quebec by bus, enjoying breathtaking views and learning all about the minerals collected here.

Founded in 1976 by the Asbestos Mineralogical Corporation, the museum was created 100 years after the discovery of asbestos. The rocks, minerals and fossils collected by the foundation from 1974 to 1975, later including collections of photographs, tools and mining equipment which pieces together the history of this mining region.

Whilst the original museum moved twice in its history, the museum is now housed in a building opened in 1997 which features a fabulous outdoor landscape and the mineralogical garden. The museum aims to educate every visitor about earth sciences regardless of age or education.

You’ll begin your day spotting various species of these majestic giants in one of the best whale watching spots in the world, Tadoussac. Next, you’ll explore Montmorency Falls before heading to Quebec. Québec, dating back to the early 17th century, is the only North American city to have preserved its ramparts, together with the numerous bastions, gates and defensive works which still surround Old Québec. The Upper Town has remained the religious centre, with its churches and other monuments.

Tadoussac, a small town in Quebec, is one of the best places in the entire world to spot whales. This is because the town sits at the confluence of freshwater Saguenay River and salty St Laurent River. Here, three currents meet which brings with it an abundance of plankton attracting the whales to these parts.

In Tadoussac, it’s not uncommon to spot 13 different species of whales, such as the endangered beluga and the legendary blue whale. Whether you are on a boat or watching from the shores, Tadoussac is a whale watcher’s dream.

Here you’ll cruise in the heart of the Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park and encounter these majestic creatures including blue whales, the largest animals on the planet, and impressive humpbacks, which all swim to this area to feed.

Located a short distance from Old Quebec, the Montmorency Falls Park is one of the most sought-after attractions in Quebec. Falling a massive 83 metres, 30 metres more than Niagara Falls, the Montmorency Falls are a spectacular natural and historical site which dominate the landscape.

These impressive falls may not be as wide as Niagara but they are just as ferocious. A staircase leading to the top of the falls allows visitors to view them from several different perspectives. You can also see the falls from the ariel tram which allows you to witness first-hand the height of them from the base of the falls to the top. If you’re feeling brave there is also a footbridge which passes over the top of the falls.

The park surrounding the falls is beautiful and full of hiking, trekking and cycling trails. It is popular throughout the summer months as well as the winter when the icy trails make it fun for keen hikers and climbers.

Quebec City is home to a historic neighbourhood area known commonly as Old Quebec or Old City. Known in French as Vieux-Québec, the Historic District of Old Quebec was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985.

The area consists of an Upper Town and a Lower Town, each with their own distinct features. The Upper Town has remained the city’s military and administrative centre since it was chosen for the site for Fort Saint Louis in 1608. The buildings here date back to the 19th century when it was largely populated by British government officials and Catholic clergy and include the Quebec City Hall, the Ursulines Convent, and the Augustinian Monastery among others.

The Lower Town was where the French and English merchants and artisans lived during the 19th century. This part of Old Quebec has notable French influence which can be seen from the Church of Notre-Dame-des-Victoires which was completed in 1723. There are also several museums, theatres and performances halls in Lower Town.

Old Quebec was established as the historic district in 1963 following pub debates which spanned over 20 years concerning the conservation of this beautiful area and its many buildings over hundreds of years old. Old Quebec covers an area of 135 hectares and is home to 1,400 buildings.

Quebec City is home to a historic neighbourhood area known commonly as Old Quebec or Old City. Known in French as Vieux-Québec, the Historic District of Old Quebec was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985.

The area consists of an Upper Town and a Lower Town, each with their own distinct features. The Upper Town has remained the city’s military and administrative centre since it was chosen for the site for Fort Saint Louis in 1608. The buildings here date back to the 19th century when it was largely populated by British government officials and Catholic clergy and include the Quebec City Hall, the Ursulines Convent, and the Augustinian Monastery among others.

The Lower Town was where the French and English merchants and artisans lived during the 19th century. This part of Old Quebec has notable French influence which can be seen from the Church of Notre-Dame-des-Victoires which was completed in 1723. There are also several museums, theatres and performances halls in Lower Town.

Old Quebec was established as the historic district in 1963 following pub debates which spanned over 20 years concerning the conservation of this beautiful area and its many buildings over hundreds of years old. Old Quebec covers an area of 135 hectares and is home to 1,400 buildings.
