Northern Explorer itinerary

Day 1 – Arrive Auckland
Haere Mai and welcome to Auckland. Make your own way to your accommo-dation and enjoy the rest of the eve-ning at leisure to explore the largest city in New Zealand.

Day 2 – Auckland to Rotorua
This morning leave Auckland and visit Okere Falls, located on the Kaituna River which has cultural significance to the local iwi tribes. Marvel at the infamous Mount Tarawera before skirting around the edge of Lake Rotorua and arriving at the recently renovated Distinction Rotorua. (B,D)

Day 3 – Rotorua
Known as the North Island’s geother-mal hot spot, Rotorua offers so much to see and do and today you will have the entire day to explore at your own leisure or purchase a sightseeing ex-perience via your Tour Guide. (B)

Day 4 – Rotorua to Taupo
Venture off the beaten track to the shores of Lake Aniwhenua, where you will experience Maori culture, tour sacred rock carvings and witness the preparation of a ground cooked hangi. After lunch, visit the lush Whirinaki Rainforest and sip hot Kawakawa tea. Visit the spectacular Huka Falls before arriving at the Hilton Taupo where you will enjoy a delicious lakeview dinner. Day 5 – Taupo to Napier
Travel along the ‘Tuscany of the Southern Pacific’, as you arrive into the stunning Hawke’s Bay region. Visit the iconic Church Road Winery where you will experience wine tasting and lunch in the magnificent Tom Mc-Donald cellar. This afternoon you will arrive at the coastal town of Napier, known for its perfectly preserved Art Deco facades. Enjoy this evening at leisure. (B,L)

Day 6 – Napier to Wellington
Journey down to the sparkling capital city of Wellington, where modern business style blends with a cultured, bohemian spirit. This afternoon is free at leisure to explore the harbour city on foot or purchase a sightseeing experience via your Tour Guide with options including a movie-set tour, museum entry and helicopter experi-ences. Day 7 – Depart Wellington
Enjoy a relaxed morning and after breakfast your 7 Day Northern Explor-er Tour comes to an end. (B)
