In the forested heart of the island, flowers, birds, and chameleons, big and small await discovery. You’ll be free to do some trekking around the island or alternatively, you can explore the nearby reefs or mainland.

Covering an area of 18,255 hectares, this special reserve is one of the most adventurous reserves of Madagascar.

The landscape is shaped by eroded limestone pinnacles, the tsingy, and hides an important part of treasures of the Antakarana culture in its underground. It is located in the Ambilobe region in the north of the Island and presents a relief that shows peaked rocks.

Some of the largest caves have collapsed and have resulted into the beautiful perte de rivières. This limestone plateau approximately five by twenty kilometres rises from the surrounding grassy plain. The dry deciduous forest grows around the periphery of the massif and penetrates up into the larger canyons.

The key species of animals that we can find are the crowned lemurs, Sanford’s lemur, the northern sportive lemur and the grey mouse lemur for the lemurs. Other mammals are mongooses, fanalokas, fosas and many bat species. There are of course many birds such as mesites, couas, vangas, ibises, kingfishers, hawks and owls. You’ll also spot reptiles (chameleons, geckos and boas).
