OVERVIEW

This eight-day Botswana trip is dedicated to those in love with cats! On this adventure, you’ll focus your attention mostly on lions, cheetahs, and leopards. You shall appreciate other game as you move from park to park.

You’ll enjoy rustic-style accommodation in the tented camps with the opportunity to sleep under the stars at night and enjoy your meals around an African campfire. The Nxai Pan National Park is a national park in northeastern Botswana, consisting of Nxai Pan, which is one of the Makgadikgadi Pan salt flats.

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN MAUN & GAME DRIVE

You’ll arrive at the airport and be met by your driver. You’ll have a quick brief about the Botswana trip and drive straight to Nxai Pan for your first game drive. En route, you’ll enjoy a delicious packed lunch. Later, you’ll embark on an afternoon game drive to spot some of the many wildlife species that inhabit this game-rich area. Around 6 pm, you’ll head back to the camp, have dinner and sit around the fire trading stories about the days’ activities.

On arrival in Maun, you will be picked up by your tour guide and you will have a chance to change your currency and do some shopping before proceeding in to Nxai Pans, which is about 230 kilometres from Maun.

Xakanaxa Campsites

Xakanaxa Camp is in a prime location on the banks of the Khwai River on the Xakanaxa Lagoon, in the heart of the Moremi Game Reserve. It offers a year-round authentic water safari experience which makes it very popular with travellers to the area.

Whilst you eat at the campsite at Xakanaxa, you’ll be able to enjoy the sounds of nature with birds chirping and leaves rustling in the bush. Xakanaxa campsite has three regular visitors, in the form of elephant bulls who come by to graze on the acacia and marula trees, so you may be lucky enough to see them during your meal.

Nxai Pan Afternoon Game Drive

DAY 3: TRAVEL TO MOREMI GAME RESERVE

This morning, after a campsite breakfast, you’ll travel from Nxai Pans to Moremi Game Reserve where you can find a diverse spectrum of wildlife. Large herds of animals make their way from the dry Kalahari Desert in search of both food and water here. You’ll make a stopover in Maun for supplies before proceeding to the campsite in the Moremi Game Reserve.

DAY 5: BEGINNING OF XAKANAKA TOUR & EXCURSIONS

This morning, you’ll continue your Botswana trip with a hearty breakfast followed by today’s game drive. You’ll head back to camp after another successful session of animal spotting and relax before lunch is served. At around 3 pm, you will have high tea then do the afternoon game drive. You could also choose to do the optional boat cruise. Around 6 pm, you’ll head back to the camp, refresh before you have dinner and sit around the fire and enjoy the stars.
